Hostel Facilities
Murkong Selek College provides hostel accommodation to support students coming from distant and rural areas. The hostels are designed to offer a safe, comfortable, and disciplined living environment conducive to academic pursuits.
The college hostel is equipped with basic amenities such as well-ventilated rooms, adequate lighting, clean drinking water, and sanitation facilities. Emphasis is given to maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and security within the hostel premises.
Supervision is ensured by a Hostel Warden, who looks after the welfare and discipline of the boarders. The college also encourages a cooperative and friendly atmosphere among students, promoting a sense of community living.
Limited hostel seats at nominal rates are available for both boys and girls. Hostels are well furnished with 24 hours running water and electricity facilities. The girls' hostel has an accommodation capacity of 48 students with well protected brick wall around it. The Boys' hostel has a capacity of 12 seats at present.
Evaluation of Students
Murkong Selek College follows a student-centric and continuous evaluation system in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020 and the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP). The college is affiliated with Dibrugarh University and strictly adheres to the evaluation guidelines prescribed by the University.
The evaluation process includes a combination of continuous Internal Assessment (IA) and End-Semester Examinations. Internal assessment comprises sessional tests, assignments, seminars, project work, class participation, and attendance, ensuring regular monitoring of student progress.
The system emphasizes outcome-based learning, skill development, and application of knowledge, in line with NEP 2020 reforms. Transparency, fairness, and timely feedback are maintained throughout the process, with provisions for grievance redressal and re-evaluation as per university norms.

Internet Facilities
The college provides free Wi-Fi facilities to students within the college campus to support academic and learning activities, e-resources, digital libraries, and ICT-based learning.
Xerox Facilities
The college provides Xerox facility for staff and students at minimum cost.
Drinking Water
The campus is equipped with clean and hygienic water supply points at convenient locations for students and staff.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The college has introduced National Service Scheme (NSS) under Dibrugarh University. The NSS unit has 100 volunteers and one of the teachers of the college designated as Programme Officer.
The NSS unit of Murkong Selek College aims to develop the personality and character of students through community service and social engagement. The unit organizes cleanliness drives, tree plantation, health awareness campaigns, rural development activities, and special camps, reflecting the motto: "Not Me, But You."
College Magazine
The Murkong Selek College Students' Union publishes a yearly magazine "MUSECOM" with the sole contribution from its students. MUSECOM showcases the creative talents and intellectual contributions of students and staff through articles, essays, poems, short stories, and academic writings.
Seminars and Workshops
Seminars, conferences, workshops and personality development programmes are integral parts of teaching-learning and faculty development. The college conducts National seminars, workshops and other academic programmes with resource persons from various fields.
Student Welfare Schemes
- Academic Merit Award: A cash prize of Rs. 5000 and a certificate of merit is awarded annually since 2025-2026 to the student securing the highest aggregate marks in the History Department in the Final University Examination.
- Book Bank: Provides text and reference books to economically backward students.
- Grievance Redressal Cell: The cell attends to student grievances through a complaint box and periodic review.
- Health Unit: First aid and basic health support facilities are available for students and staff.
- College Canteen: Provides tea, snacks and light refreshments at reasonable prices.
- Boys' & Girls' Common Room: Separate common rooms with newspapers, magazines and recreational facilities.
- Career Counselling Cell: Guides students in academic and professional planning, skill development and career opportunities.
- Internal Complaints Committee (ICC): Ensures a safe, secure and gender-sensitive environment under the POSH Act.
- Equal Opportunity and SC/ST Cell: Promotes inclusivity, support and equal academic opportunity.
- Research & Development Cell: Promotes research, innovation and academic excellence.
- Gymnasium Hall and Indoor Stadium: Support physical development and sports activities.

Games & Sports
The college offers facilities in football, cricket, volleyball and other outdoor games, along with indoor games such as chess and carrom.
Literary Activities
The college magazine MUSECOM and departmental wall magazines provide platforms for literary, artistic and innovative expression.
Debating
The debating section conducts competitions where interested students can participate and develop public speaking skills.
Students' Union
The Murkong Selek College Student's Union is a general body of the students and is committed to students' welfare. The Principal is the ex-officio President of the Students' Union, and the college authority provides necessary assistance and cooperation for welfare activities.

Alumni Association
The college has an Alumni Association that helps in establishing book bank, donating games and sports materials, and cooperating with the college authority in decision making and implementation of policies for all-round development.
The Alumni Association serves as a strong link between the institution and its former students. It organizes Alumni Meets and interactive sessions, providing a platform for former students to reconnect, share experiences, and inspire current students through guidance, mentorship, career support, and participation in academic and developmental activities.

Anti-Ragging Committee
The Anti-Ragging Committee of Murkong Selek College is formed to prevent and eliminate ragging in the campus, ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all students. The committee functions in accordance with UGC guidelines and the directives of the Supreme Court of India on ragging.

Code of Conduct for Students
- Wearing of College Uniform during college hours is compulsory.
- Students must be regular and punctual in attending their classes.
- Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within and outside the college campus. Anybody found guilty of it will be penalized to the extent of rusticating from the college.
- Smoking, chewing of tobacco, gutkha, drugs etc. are strictly prohibited in the college campus.
- It is the duty of every student to keep the college campus clean and beautiful. Spitting, writing and sticking bills on the walls and trees are strictly prohibited.
- Use of mobile phones in the class room is strictly prohibited.
- Students should utilize most of their leisure time in the college library.
- Every student should have fellow feeling among them and sympathetic feeling for each other.
- Students must park their bikes and bicycles in their respective stands.

Code of Conduct for Murkong Selek College Boys'/Girls' Hostel
- Ragging in any form, inside and outside the hostel is strictly prohibited.
- Anyone found involved in the above offence will be rusticated from both the hostel and the college.
- A boarder must take proper permission from the hostel warden to go out of the hostel.
- He/She must come back to the hostel at 5 p.m. during winter and 6.30 p.m. during summer.
- No boys/girls will be allowed to enter the hostel after the above stated time until the warden is convinced that he/she otherwise has a valid reason.
- Every inmate should have a feeling of love and affection among themselves.
- All boys/girls must strive to keep the hostel campus clean.
- No visitors will be allowed to enter the hostel after 5 p.m. in winter and 6 p.m. during summer.
- No guests will be allowed to spend night in the hostel room.
Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Murkong Selek College is a statutory body constituted in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The committee is established to ensure a safe, secure, and gender-sensitive environment for all students, teaching staff, and non-teaching employees.
