Summary: A special lecture on Research Ethics and Methodology was organized for 7th Semester students in alignment with the implementation of NEP 2020.
Murkong Selek College, Jonai organized a Special Lecture on “Research Ethics and Methodology” on 8th October 2026 at the Conference Hall of the college. The programme was organized in alignment with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and was intended particularly for students of the 7th Semester, for whom Paper C-19 is compulsory.
The special lecture was delivered by Dr. Nazimuddin Siddique, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His lecture provided valuable insights into the fundamental principles of research ethics, academic integrity, responsible research practices, and the methodological approaches essential for conducting meaningful academic research.
During the session, emphasis was placed on the importance of ethical conduct in research, including honesty, transparency, proper acknowledgement of sources, avoidance of plagiarism, responsible collection and interpretation of data, and adherence to accepted academic standards.
The lecture also introduced students to important aspects of research methodology, helping them understand the systematic processes involved in identifying research problems, formulating research questions, collecting and analysing data, and presenting research findings in a scholarly manner.
The programme provided students with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of research practices and develop a deeper appreciation of ethical responsibility in academic inquiry. The interaction with the resource person further enriched the learning experience and helped clarify various aspects of research ethics and methodology.
