About the Department
The Department of Philosophy was established in 1984.
The department got the permission for honours subject in 2005. Since then it has been ceaselessly working on emancipating knowledge of philosophical views of both Indian and Western traditions.

Departmental Activities
The department annually publishes a wall magazine titled Chinton to provide students with a platform to showcase and nurture their innate talents, fostering skill development beyond the classroom.
A biennial magazine titled Gyananweshi The Sophophile is published at the initiative of Darshan Sora, the forum of the Department of Philosophy.
Darshan Sora is constituted by the students and teachers of the department and aims to foster students holistic development across physical, mental, spiritual, and intellectual domains.
The forum periodically organizes various literary and cultural programmes, as well as meditation and yoga sessions under expert guidance.
The department also organizes cultural procession and departmental picnic activities.
Departmental Library
In addition to the central library of the college, the department has a departmental library of its own.
The library is equipped with 350+ books which cover the syllabus of the undergraduate course of Dibrugarh University.
The library serves as a hub of knowledge and information to support the academic pursuits of students and faculty.
The economically backward students of this rural based college are benefited by the departmental library.
All students and faculty members are allowed to keep at least two books per person for 12 days.
